Osundairo brothers file lawsuit against Jussie Smollett's attorneys

The 2 brothers who admit to helping Jussie Smollett carry out an allegedly "staged" attack on himself are now suing Smollett's attorneys for $75,000 each. Ola and Bola Osundairo testified to a grand jury that Smollett paid them $3,500 to help him stage the attack. Charges were not filed against the brothers. Smollett was charged with 16 felony counts, but they were later dropped. While the brothers admitted to helping Smollett, they say that Smollett took advantage of their aspirations to have television and movie careers.

The Osundairo brothers filed a defamation lawsuit Tuesday morning. They say Smollett's attorneys, Mark Geragos, Tina Glandian and the Geragos & Geragos Law Firm have spread negative comments and false accusations that have negatively impacted their career and reputation. The brothers also say that even after the charges against Smollet were dropped, Smollet's attorneys kept saying they "led a criminally homophobic, racist and violent attack against Mr. Smollett," during interviews.

"We have sat back and watched lie after lie being fabricated about us in the media only so one big lie can continue to have life. These lies are destroying our character and reputation in our personal and professional lives," said the brothers in a joint statement.

Jussie Smollett maintains his innocence. His attorneys released a statement shortly after the lawsuit was filed saying, "At first we thought this comical legal document was a parody. Instead this so-called lawsuit by the brothers is more of their lawyer driven nonsense, and a desperate attempt for them to stay relevant and further profit from an attack they admit they perpetrated. While we know this ridiculous lawsuit will soon be dismissed because it lacks any legal footing, we look forward to exposing the fraud the Osundairo brothers and their attorneys have committed on the public. The odds may be against the brothers prevailing in court."
