All Eyes On Gulf For Potential Tropical Disturbance

The National Hurricane Center has highlighted the northern Gulf for potential tropical development.

Forecasters are watching an area of low pressure that was located off the east coast of Florida Monday morning.

"This disturbance is forecast to move westward across Florida during the next day or so, and into the northeastern Gulf by late Tuesday," said NHC hurricane specialist Larry Kelly. "Environmental conditions appear favorable and some gradual development of this system is possible while it moves westward to west-northwestward across the northeastern and north-central portions of the Gulf during the middle to latter part of this week."

Concerns for south Louisiana include excessive rainfall later this week.

The next named storm would be Dexter.

Officials urge residents to stay aware of the forecast and review their hurricane plans now.
